Many celebrities come through Starbucks and they are quite friendly… as long as you don’t trip…forcing them to go  into “Star Mode.” Otherwise, they usually act as normal as the rest of us.

 Rhona Bennett, singer from Supergroup “ENVOGUE,”…actors off the show ENTOURAGE and too many stars to name (i.e. Miley Cirus, Zak Efron, etc.). 

Cool chick!..Growing up to be a fox!

 Even Gary Oldman(“BOOK OF ELI”) frequents our Starbucks. One time he was wearing a T-shirt that said “no photos.” Now, I thought  that dude was weird… has nothing to do with acting.. just a Gary Oldman Thing! I think that our Starbucks is fast becoming a place where celebrities can feel normal.

However, leave to ya’ man “DT” to cross the line.. A couple days ago I’m working on my computer at STARBUCKS. STARBUCKS REGULAR Ernie  (WWW.CLOCKWORKLA.COM ) was working on his computer next to me. I looked up and saw Snoop Dog”s wife Shante’…I pointed this out to Ernie. 

Get a room you guys!!

I had run into her a little while back and we had a nice chat..she was hella - cool! I told him I was going to just say hi…but “All hell broke loose instead!” 

Here’s what went down… I said, “Hi you’re Shante’ Snoop’s wife? ..I met you a little while back at so & so, I’m DT.”  She looked at me with a scowl that would have made Mr. T say DAAAAAM!!!! 

She said very angrily, “I’m not Snoop’s wife!!!. ” I said, “I’m sorry Ms., I met her before and you look almost Identical, sorry to bother you.”   I was turning to walk back to my seat..and she said angrily…”I resent that you said I look like her”…”I have seen her on TV and she is ugly!…. “I don’t look like her!”

CAN YOU SAY…”CHECK PLEASE”!! I walked back  to my seat and she just kept going on about how insulted she was for me comparing her to his wife. I apologized again and told her that I think Snoop’s wife is pretty. 

I asked her, “what can I do for you? Can I pay for your order?” At this point I was willing to  buy her a car or paint her house..anything to send her on her way to spread that sunshine elsewhere. She said “No Thanks!” 

While this was” going on Ernie was smiling. I got back to my seat and Ernie says, “What’s that chicks problem? “She’s no Sharon Stone!

Finally….and I do mean finally..that chick left!! I thought Wow!!   Ernie was just laughing about how crazy she became over a simple case of mistaken Identity… Well, I guess Sh*t happens…even at Starbucks. I went up.. ordered a coffee and asked for a shot of JACK DANIELS in it… and went back to work on my computer.

Even World leaders can't resist A Peek!!!

This is the most controversial BLOG I have written to date, bar none. I have no doubt that it will be heavily read (and commented on) because it deals with the appropriateness of men staring at women. I was leaving Starbucks and one of the female managers (to remain unnamed) came up to me and said, “DT we had a blonde woman come into today and complain that the male  morning “Regulars” (who drink their coffee outside) become quiet every time she comes… and they stare her down with “lusty” looks …and then make comments under their breath about her!”

The manager asked me if I would share that information with the male morning “Regulars” so they could curtail their stares at this woman.  I asked the manager a few questions about this mystery “Blonde,” such as: “How does she know for sure the guys are staring at her?”….”How does she know that the guys aren’t talking about their girlfriends or wives when she walks by (as just about all these guys have girlfriends or wives)?….”Also, if she believed the naughty boys are staring at her all the time why wouldn’t avoid them by using the other door?”

"PUFFY YOU"RE BUSTY...I mean Busted"

Furthermore, I said to the manager that these guys are men of all races, education levels and professions…from  graphic artist to former bankers to stage hands, business professionals to cameramen…these are good guys and very respectful…but not perfect!  Nevertheless, I told the Starbucks manager I would relay her message to the “boys.”

“Finally, I asked her for a description of the Blonde in question so the guys would know who to totally avoid making eye contact with period… All the manager would say is that she is a blonde”…I thought a blonde in Los Angeles, ….that’s helpful!!

Over the next couple of mornings I told the male outside coffee drinkers about the mystery blonde situation… Just about every guy shook their head and looked confused. The guys tried to figure out what Blonde customer could make every guy swoon, all of us quiet…then in unison stare her up and down.. and finally comment about her under our breath…No guy could come up with anyone… so we all gave up and went  back to our many and diverse conversations.

"Hey what you boys looking at!...Just drink your coffee ok!!

My Lady coffee drinkers..don’t get me wrong these are men. Some women come dressed to Starbucks in very skimpy outfits. Recently, I was sitting at Starbucks with fellow “Regular” Mike B and an attractive women walked up in a totally see-thru dress…no bra and a g- string…that looked like dental floss!(Hey Now!… Just Kidding Ladies!!)   Now I tried my best not to look at this…I failed. Mike just covered his eyes because he has a girlfriend (did I do good Mike?).

Ladies these  guys are very polite …as a matter of fact, we have many women “Regulars” who sit, laugh and enjoy being one of the guys..many of these women are very cute!  The guys are always respectful to them.

HERE”S WHAT THE STUDIES SAY ABOUT STARING AT THE OPPOSITE SEX!!

 A new study performed in the UK shows that an average man will spend 43 minutes of his day ogling 10 different women,while the ladies themselves spend an average of 20 minutes doing the same(say what!! oh snap!! women do it to).

"Cover your eyes Ladies!!"...look away!!

Speaking strictly numbers, researchers have found that, if a man looks at women for 43 minutes a day, it adds up to 259 hours a year, which, in turn, translates into 11 months and 11 days between the ages of 18 and 50. Similarly, women too spend a lot of time looking at men, although they cut it almost in half: 20 minutes a day, which adds up to six months between the same ages.

“Men are renowned for looking at women but it’s interesting to find out exactly how long they spend eyeing girls up. The same poll also revealed that men size women up in places like supermarkets, clubs and bars, while women prefer those locations that offer them the strategic advantage, such as a bar or a terrace( you sneaky girls you!..JK).

 Moreover, most men feel “happy” when they see a woman checking them up, while women’s reactions differ: some are flattered by it, 16 percent feel uncomfortable, and 20 percent say being eyed up is a completely embarrassing experience.

Let me just say on behalf of all the male coffee drinking “Regulars who sit outside (To the Mystery Blonde), if any one of us looked you over… or commented about you…we truly apologize. These are good guys…If  its possible you were mistaken…cut us a little slack…! This is a group of straight males…who may occaisionally may look up at an attractive female flower as she passes. Is it right…heck I don’t know!!

Ouch! Now that's gonna cost some money!

Hey coffee drinking family, you all know that between the bank, the church, the condos and Starbucks… the parking lot is overcrowded. I already BLOGGED on the Starbucks parking lot brawls (see recent Blog entries list on right) and the confusion that ensues.

The church (on the lot) is shared by both a Korean and African-American congregation.  Apparently, these Christians are “mad as hell …and they’re not  gonna take it anymore!! (to use a phrase).

A few weeks ago, I was sipping on a tall drip coffee when I saw the Korean Pastor on the church parking lot with a new towing company they hired. The tow truck driver posted new blue and white signs on the  church property… they shook hands and that was that!

Since then every Starbuck’s Regular I see parking over there…I try to warn them! Some listen many don’t!… They are taking a big risk! As Clint Eastwood  said it best in “Dirty Harry”….Do you feel lucky punk?!!

You go inside to get a coffee …and boom your car has been jacked up on some tow truck…what a way to start a day! 

The State of California and City of Los Angeles are taxing and fining the h**l out of us citizens…tickets are outrageous, court fines are outrageous, property taxes are outrageous, layoffs are outrageous…and if you have ever been towed…you know you are about to get taken to the cleaners!!

The car being towed(above) is an actual tow I witnessed  on the church property… the first of many..I’m sure.  Hey folks….you know what they say…”IN GOD WE TRUST, ALL OTHERS GET TOWED!!!

I know that’s cold…but just looking out for you guys!..

Meet Little "Mason"

Meet adorable ”MASON”, a 3-months old Pit Bull. When I met Little MASON he was “chillin” under “OREN ‘S (owners) chair at  Starbucks.

MEET "HONEY"

I don’t believe this picture from my cell phone does “HONEY” justice… she is simply beautiful in person. HONEY” is a Rhodesian Ridgeback, used in Africa to hunt down Lions…wow! (she also has a little Pitt and German Sheppard mixed in).  “JOE” rescued her from the streets of Chatsworth a year ago. “HONEY” is obsessed with cats…maybe she sees them as little lions!

"CHESSI"

Meet this diva named “CHEESI.” A 3 year-old Yorkie who craves attention and loves “Beggin” strips. Her owner (Ms. “PHOENIX”  is life mates with JOE..the owner of “HONEY” above).  So I guess that makes CHESSI and HONEY sisters!

This is “ROCKET” a Jack Russell Terrier mix, rescued from a valley shelter by ”JULIE.” ROCKET is very social, once he gets to know you. His favorite food is chicken strips!! 

"MEL"

This is “MEL” a border Terrier(age unknown) who was rescued by DAN.  MEL is both cute and very friendly.

"KASHMIR"

Of course the first pet BLOG would not be complete without an appearance by “KASHMIR”, a 14-year old  Collie mix. Laidback KASHMIR was named after a Led Zeppelin song. He is the resident “OG” at his Starbucks(Tijunga & Riverside). Roma tomatoes will get you on “KASMIR’S good side. “KASMIR” was a street rescue by his owner MIKE.

Well, coffee drinking Family…when you see some of the Starbucks Regulars with their pets, say hi to both!!  Also, I need you to share your favorite: VETS, PET STORES, DOG PARKS and FUN PET EVENTS in the Valley (supporting our local community)…I like to share this info with other pet owners. Also, include in your comment details for your reccomendation of  a VET, PET STORE, etc.

This is not the child...did not want to include his photo!

At approximately 4:30pm this Sunday(9/20) a man (late 40′s- early 50′s) was arrested at Starbucks. As reported to me by several customers and Starbucks employees who were there at that time,  the molester had attempted to grab a 12 year boy as he  was playing at the park (on Tijunga & Magnolia) across from Starbucks.

"We must keep our kids safe in Public Places!"

The boy began yelling and screaming as the molester(what a “creep”) attempted to pull him away. An unidentified homeless man(what a “heroe”) at the park heard the commotion and ran to the boy’s defense… telling the “creep” to let the little boy go.

After getting free of the molester, the boy quickly rode his bike home and told his father what had happened at the park! The father (livid) and boy got in their car and searched around the park looking for the molester.

It gets deeper folks, in the meantime “Joe Creep” had gone to the 7-eleven across from Starbucks.

 While there (the police later found out that)  he tried to lure away another little boy who was outside eating a hotdog (he was unsuccessful again).  

The molester than went to Starbucks and ordered a drink (the nerve of this weirdo) and was at the condiment counter when to his demented surprise....the boy and his father showed up at the Starbucks."I guess the coffee in Jail is not that good!"

It was also reported to me by witnesses that the father teetered between breaking out a fresh can of whoop a** (which he told the molester) and calling North Hollywood PD….he opted for calling the police…who quickly showed up and arrested this idiot.

"Hey Mr. Child Molester...your ride is here!!"

That was the right choice because it gets him off the streets and out of the community! Sorry Guys & Dolls, I like to keep the Blog ”PG”- but can I get a “Hell Yeah”!!…ok I’m better now….Get the word out about this attempted molestation ….email the blog or tell your friends and neighbors and of course your fellow Starbucks coffee drinkers… Don’t live in Fear…Live in AWARENESS!

PS..The Blog has 500 weekly readers(all from our Starbucks) in just its first six weeks, this rapid growth amazes me. People are constantly sharing their thoughts about their favorite  BLOG stories while I enjoy my morning cup of Starbucks.

"Cool" Chris Doyle

Starbucks Regular Chris (“Everyone thinks he’s an undercover Cop”) Doyle said to me recently, ”hey DT are you gonna do follow-ups on some of the stories on the Blog?” He went on to say, “I hate when the news reports something and doesn’t do  a follow-up story… you don’t know what happened to the people involved.” So here are the updates on the latest round of  “DT IS A BEAST BLOGS!” …Have Fun family! 

Tanya and Little Enzi..."STILL STANDING!

It’s been a few weeks since the Starbucks crash incident (see Blog, “Little Enzi survives Starbucks Crash”), and little 2- year old Enzi (who survived the crash) has healed from his facial bruises. However, Enzi is still struggling with trauma issues related to the crash. Currently, he is under a Doctor’s care…let’s hope that Little Enzi overcomes these issues quickly.

Tanya (Enzi’s Mom) is currently in therapy for back and other muscular issues from the incident.  When I caught up with them recently at Starbucks…both seemed to be in good spirits. She thanked the many ”DT is a Beast Blog readers again for your continued concern for her and the baby…she promised to keep us updated.

"The Cheddar is Still Missing"

Also, I followed up with Angelica Ballesteros (via telephone) regarding the $4,000 in cash that she accidently left behind in the ladies room at Starbucks (see “Customer loses $4,000 at Starbucks Blog”)…to no ones surprise the money has not been recovered!

Angelica told me that she is still waiting for the North Hollywood PD to recover the video tape footage from Starbucks to uncover any clues to the theft…however the police has yet to get the tapes. She has seemed to quickly move beyond this unfortunate loss of  her “Cheddar”!

Regulars Dave(l), "Little Dawg(c)" & Luano(r) hangin' at Starbucks

 Starbucks “Regulars” Dave & Luano take a picture with Adrian (“They Call Me Mr.”) Tibbs, pictured in center. Dave is a manager at The Guitar Center (Northridge)…. Luano is a union stage hand who has worked the shows of some of the biggest music stars (such as Madonna).

Adrian, a former cast member on the famed TV show “Martin,”  played the character ‘Little Dawg”…the arch nemesis of  the “Old School Player”.. ”Jerome” (played by Martin Lawrence). Adrian is a married father of two and is currently pursuing his X-Ray technician certification. The three guys (and me) were sharing coffee and laughs at the “Bucks.”

If you come into Starbucks…. sitting usually on your left-hand side (early mornings) is the lovely Tess…(a regular at Starbucks). She is usually reading a book. Often, I try to get her to smile when she comes in the mornings….but I’m very careful…Here’s why….Tess works in entertainment industry and does female stunt work.

Apparrently, she is an accomplished Martial Artist.  This is one foxy mama that could break a guys jaw!! Just kidding…. Tess is a cool chick!      Hey Tess!…you won’t kick my butt for calling you a “chick”…will you?  BIG SMILE GOES HERE!!    Hey folks….If you see Tess say hi!

Kashmir..."The Birthday Boy"!!

He’s back!!!…It’s Kashmir the lovable Collie-mix with the sex addiction (read Blog ”Ain’t No Fun if The Doggies Can’t Have None!). Today Kashmir celebrates his 14th birthday!! Yaaah Doggie!!   His owner (none other than bartender and future Vet Tech) Micheal Brennan brought Kashmir to Starbucks and the regulars sang Happy Birthday to him! Last year’s Bday menu was a steak and beer…this year Mike said the menu for Kashmir is chicken (no alcohol)…Kashmir is on the wagon!!

Angelica Ballesteros- Make-up Artist

On Tuesday ( Sept. 8th), I was “chillaxing” with fellow Starbucks regular Luano James(“OG Grills”)…. sipping on my tall drip coffee, when “the man,”" “5-0″, “Po-Po” or otherwise known as the Police pulled up…and it wasn’t for an ice mocha!…local make-up artist Angelica Ballestros had summoned them.

As reported to me by her (and in the presence of North Hollywood Police Officer Villegas who took the report) the story goes like this……Angelica came to Starbucks approximately at 8am to get a drink with her young daughter(age unknown) in tow and used the restroom….. She rushed to take her daughter to school. Several hours later she returned to Starbucks in a panic…realizing that she had left her “COACH” purse in the restroom…. and it gets deeper folks…she had $4,000 in cash inside the purse.

 When she returned to Starbucks and approached the counter……an unidentifeid Starbucks employee told her that a customer had turned in the purse ….they gave it to Angelica….after a quick inspection she went into panic overdrive….the $4,000 in cash had vanished!!!

She called the police and requested the camera footage from earlier that morning at Starbucks. Now, ok guys and dolls…I’ll play mind reader…Here’s the question I know you’re thinking….Why was she carrying so much cash?

Angelica told Officer Villegas that her rent was $3,500(nice crib huh!!) and she was going to the bank to deposit the cash so she could write a check and pay her rent…That’s what I heard her tell the officer…and that’s all the information I have on this caper!

I felt very bad for this lady, and told her so several times!…. If any of my fellow “Regulars”… recognize this lady or was there that day and saw anything worth reporting….leave a comment on the ”DT IS A BEAST BLOG“ and I will get this information to Angelica and/or the North Hollywood PD.

WOW! $4,000 in cash vanished…..! That’s amazing!!!

Cleaning Up our environment One Shot at a Time

Several weeks ago, on a hot Saturday afternoon, a man on Rollerblades appeared out of nowhere into the Starbucks parking lot. What happened next was equally surprising, he skated around the lot for the next several minutes scooping up trash with his hockey stick. He deposited it into a Starbucks trash can as if he was scoring a goal. When he saw no more trash, he skated away as quickly as he appeared!

He SHOOTS, He SCORES!!!

After he left, a Starbucks regular I knew showed up and I tried to explain what I just had witnessed. She looked at me and said, “how much vodka do you have in your coffee?” 

"I didn't have vodka in my coffe, I promise!!"

I said to her, “I’m serious some hockey dude came in here… like some trash crime fighter and then disappeared.” She said DT, “Are you making up some crazy story for the BLOG readers?”  She smiled, patted me on the shoulder and went into Starbucks and got her usual Latte.

Needless to say, I didn’t tell anyone else what I saw. Then two weeks later (again when I was by myself) the hockey ghost appeared. He did the same thing…before he could go I said, ”hey bro let me get a picture of you…,” he ignored me and disappeared again.

He was hard to prove like a leprechaun!!

I thought this guy is like a leprechaun or unicorn, no one will believe me if they never see this. Think about it, a guy with a hockey stick….. spending his weekend picking up trash at a Starbucks parking lot….for free!! You would believe me right? … Sure you would!! 

"Hey, I got you now!!"

Well the third time I saw him (two weeks later)…”I said dude stop!! I need a picture to show people my Starbucks friends you exist… I will keep bugging you until you let me get a picture.” He stopped and said, “one picture that’s it!” Before he could changed his mind I ran up on him like Angelina Jolie did when she first saw Brad Pitt ( Just Kidding Angelina)!!

After snapping it, I asked him his named and why was he doing this… He responded, “NO name…NO explanation, gotta go guy.” He skated away back into the twilight zone.

Well, there it is…I got the picture of the hockey ghost to prove it! If you see the Good Samaritan who is cleaning up after us Starbucks Regulars… or have already seen him, leave a comment on the BLOG.
